Keep Kashmir connected

During the recent rainfall that submerged most parts of the Valley, a man, about 77-year-old has died after he fell into an under-construction open sewage drain, which was filled with water in Harnambal area of Natipora Srinagar. Interestingly, no one from the administration has even come up with the statement to condemn the negligence of the concerned agency, working on the project. One fails to understand why the concerned agency has failed to erect at least a sign board to make the people aware that the road or the drainage is under-construction. According to the reports, prior to the death of an elderly man, two kids were about to fall in this drain but somehow managed to save themselves and before that a sumo fell in the same drain, which is still stuck there. The concerned agency, by failing to erect a sign board, has not only committed a mistake, but has also claimed the life of an elderly man. There are people who question the non-seriousness of the concerned agency and also want an action against the erring officials, working on the project, whose responsible action could have saved the life of an elderly man. The concerned Municipal Councilor has termed the incident as unfortunate and claimed that the entire lane is under construction and people should be careful while walking the path. There is a need to make erection of sign boards compulsory at the under construction site so that such kind of incidents could be prevented in the future. Moreover, the non-seriousness of the concerned agency should be probed as well so that action is taken against them if found guilty.
