Samoon reviews functioning of Skill Development Department

IGP Kashmir reviews security, law & order in Pulwama, Awantipora

Jammu, Nov 9: Principal Secretary, Skill Development Department, Dr Asgar Hassan Samoon, Tuesday chaired a meeting to review functioning of Skill Development Department at Civil Secretariat, Jammu.
Threadbare discussion was held on various issues pertaining to Skill Development Department including constitution of Institute Management Committee for Model ITI Jammu, finalize guidelines for Institutional Development Fund (IDF), completion of Polytechnic campuses under Languishing Projects and establishment of four IT labs under STRIVE project.
The meeting also discussed modalities for completion of ongoing works besides execution of new works under CAPEX 2021-22, completion of civil works of Polytechnics at Kishtwar, Poonch, Doda, Ramban, Udhampur and Kupwara district, implementation of CSS (7 ITIs under STRIVE and 2 Model ITIs) and fresh recruitment of faculty in Polytechnics/ITIs.
While reviewing the functioning of SDD, Principal Secretary gave several directions to Chief Engineers of PWD Kashmir/Jammu and JKPCC to expedite construction works on newly constructed premises so that the classes could be started.
Dr Samoon directed the Director, Skill Development Department to speed up physical and financial progress on various works being carried out by different executing agencies so that the works could be completed in stipulated time frame. He also asked for taking necessary steps towards updation of gazetted recruitment rules of the Skill Development Department.
Earlier, Director Skill Development Department, Sudershan Kumar, briefed about the ongoing development activities and infrastructure being raised by Skill Development Department besides highlighting physical and financial achievements.
Among others, Director Finance, SED, Iftikhar Hussain Chauhan; Special Secretary, Law, Manoj Pandita; Additional Secretary, IT, Dr Rajinder Khajuria; Additional Secretary, Rajesh Basotra; Additional Secretary, HED, Rakesh Kumar; Chief Engineer, PWD Jammu, Er Manzoor Hussain; Registrar JK BOTE, Jatinder Kaisar; G M, JKPCC Jammu, Mushtaq Ahmed Wanil and Secretary, JKSSB, Sachin Jamwal attended besides officers from Kashmir participated online.
