Gandberbal, Nov 16: Students of forest faculty Benhama Lar Tuesday staged a protest and closed the main gate of faculty due to shortage of water facilities in the hostel.
The students who have complained about shortage of drinking water studies in the Forestry Department of Sher-e-Kashmir University, Agriculture Science and Technology, located in the Banahama area of Ganderbal district.
The students locked the main entrance of the faculty of forest and staged a protest against the lack of basic facilities in the hostel.
Protesters said that for the last one month, there was no water, electricity or other necessities of life in the hostel against which they were forced to protest by locking the door.
Hundreds of students including students from Jammu and Kashmir and other states of the country are studying in the Faculty of Forestry.
“The students who have been staying in the hostel for a month are facing various difficulties. Neither cold nor hot water is available in the hostel,” the protesters said.
The warden of the faculty of Forestry said that the demands of the students are justified as the hostel lacks basic facilities.
Meanwhile, an official from SKUAST-K said that they will look into the matter.
