Ganderbal, Nov 22: A day after a girl student dies of ‘suffocation’; the students from Central University of Kashmir (CUK) staged a protest on Monday, demanding hostel facilities for them.
The students said that the hostel facilities have not been provided to them after the shifting of the varsity to Ganderbal district.
“We come from far-flung areas of Kashmir and the university does not provide us the hostel facilities, so we have been forced to stay in the rented rooms outside the university,” a protesting student said.
“Today was the day when we lost our beloved sister due to negligence of CUK authorities,” Spokesperson CUK Nadiya Rashid Naik said.
The students alleged that they have approached the CUK administration several times, but nothing has been done in this regard and demanded immediate steps with regard to providing hostel facilities to the students.
