Awantipora Nov 27: Sounds strange but true is the fact that a government school in Awantipora area of South Kashmir’s Pulwama district has re-opened after 13 years.
Officials said that Government Primary School in Kadlabal Chersoo area of Awantipora zone was closed for 13 years before due to some issues with land donors.
“After hectic efforts, the person living in the school was taken out of it and school was re-opened again after 13 years,” they said.
Locals thanked the authorities for re-opening the school after a gap of 13 years and requested them to keep all facilities available at the School.
“Most of the students who have been admitted at the school were students of private school. Their parents cancelled their admission after they were assured by the teachers that their students will get quality education here,” a group of locals said.
In Charge Zonal Education Officer Muhammad Ashraf told KNO that just before three days he was informed by some officials about the issue and after that the land donor was contacted.
“After hectic efforts, we decided to hand over school back to the education department. In the last two years, 15 students have been admitted in the school,” he said. “Students admitted here will get quality education and all facilities will be provided to them.”
