Srinagar, Nov 27: In Srinagar, over 90 percent mothers have at least four antenatal care visits in 2021, reveals the data released by the NITI Aayog in Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) Urban Index 2021.
According to the Survey, 90.93 percent of mothers had antenatal care, which is the routine health control of presumed healthy pregnant women without screening, in order to diagnose diseases or complicating obstetric conditions without symptoms and to provide information about lifestyle, pregnancy and delivery.
The NITI Aayog document assessed by the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), states that percentage of mothers who had antenatal care visits in Srinagar is much higher than the major cities of India including Mumbai, Pune, Surat, Varanasi, Kolkata, Jodhpur and Jaipur.
As per the index, 64.48 percent of currently married women aged 15-49 years of age use any modern method of family planning, also, 99.92 percent of institutional deliveries out of total deliveries were reported in Srinagar.
Further, in Srinagar, 41.18 percent of women in Srinagar are overweight or obese against the target of 19.9 percent set by the NITI Aayog.
“The number of urban poor provided credit facilities per 10,000 population stands at 16.85 percent and percentage of loans disbursed against sanctioned under the PM Svanidhi Scheme stands at 95.22 percent and percentage of population residing in slums stands at 26.95 percent,” reads the document.
Also, the percentage of households with any usual member covered by any health scheme or health insurance stands at 2.63 percent and the Multidimensional Poverty Index Urban Score in Srinagar stands at one percent. (KNO)
