As the schools continue to remain closed for the students’ upto middle classes in Jammu and Kashmir, there are reports coming to the fore about the fleecing of parents by the private school administrations, who are reportedly compelling the parents to pay annual fee of one year, thus putting the directions issued by the government at bay. There is no iota of doubt that the teachers and the school administration do work even amid the closure of the schools, but one fails to understand why the institutes come up with the directions as per their will, which are not only against the government orders, but are also against the aspirations of the parents as well. It seems that the private schools are out to conduct their business in the name of education, thus they don’t care about the sufferings of the people, which they are dealing with, rather they are only concerned about the money they are getting from the parents, whose wards are enrolled in their institutes. There are people who question how the government has let loose their institutes and is allowing them to do whatever they want to. There seems no adherence to the guidelines while the committee formed to look into the fee related issues of students, is also not bothered to ensure these issues don’t take place on the ground. There is a need to act over the reports with regard to the charging of annual fee by the Schools, so that the aggrieved parents here could heave a sigh of relief.
