Srinagar, Dec 11: The Jammu and Kashmir Animal Husbandry Casual Laborers Association (AHCLA) staged a protest on Saturday here at press colony, demanding hike in their daily wages from Rs 100 to Rs 225 per day.
The protesters said “We have been working for the last 15 years with the animal husbandry department and we are being paid Rs 100 per day despite the orders issued by the Finance department directing that every temporary employee should be paid Rs 225 per day.
“We are not even able to bear the travel expenses from our daily wages. To reach the place of postings, we are paying Rs 100 or even more as bus fare, thus we are not able to bear the expenses,” they said.
“Our kids were also discharged from schools for not paying the fee. We are very much depressed due to the government apathy,” they said.
“We urge the Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha to look into the matter and ensure justice is delivered,” they said.
