Anantnag, Dec 11: The residents of Tral hamlet of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district and Kullal Nowgam area of Anantnag district have hailed the efforts of wildlife department for capturing black bears in the area.
An official of the wildlife department said that they had received information about a bear roaming in Midoora area of Tral following which a team of Khanagund range rushed to the spot.
They said that after hectic efforts, the beast was tranquilized and later shifted to a nearby wildlife sanctuary.
Similarly, in Kullan Nowgam area of Anantnag wildlife team from Achabal range rushed to the spot after receiving information about presence of bear in the area.
An official said that after hectic efforts, a bear who had climbed on a tall tree was tranquilized and later shifted to Daksum Wildlife Sanctuary.
Meanwhile, locals from Midoora and Kullan have thanked the wildlife department for their work but requested them to continue such rescue operations as more wild animals are roaming in the area posing threat to the local residents and their livestock.
Meanwhile officials of the department said that they are on toes and are working for the safety of people along with their livestock.
