Forests: The backbone of earth’s ecosystem

The administration in summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir, Srinagar, seems reluctant to continue the drive against the offenders as it has been witnessed that the administration don’t adhere to the drives it start with different motives. In the past several months, it has been observed that the administration come on the road for a day only to enforce any decision of the government, but on the other day, it is stopped for unknown reasons, thus allowing the norm violations on the roads again. If anyone questions about the drive launched by the administration here to ensure Covid Appropriate Behaviour (CAB), he or she can find only one answer that is a day-long show witnessed in Srinagar. The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Srinagar was seen on the road along with the other officers enforcing the decisions and rules with regard to Covid, traffic and others, but unfortunately, could not sustain for a long, thus, leaving the people to lurch at large from the another day as the violations continue without any hesitance. One fails to understand the reasons behind the day-long drives as there are people who believe that the drives, which only sustain for a day will never ensure adherence to the norms and rules. There is a need to ensure strict implementation of rules and CAB in the district for which the administration has to take concrete steps and continue with the drives across the district to bring respite from traffic norm violations and Covid spread, especially at a time when a new variant, known as Omicron has already entered into Jammu and Kashmir.
