Coronavirus: JK logs 542 new cases, 1 death

Srinagar, Jan 7: Jammu and Kashmir Friday reported one death and 542 fresh positive cases of COVID-19, thus taking the number of total active cases in the Union Territory to 2,492.
With one more death, the death toll in J&K has reached to 4,534 and 542 fresh positive cases reported on Friday have pushed the tally of positive cases to 343,310.
Of the exact number of 343,310 cases, 215,975 are from Kashmir division and 127,335 from Jammu division.
Officials said that among 542 new cases, 254 belong to Kashmir division while as 288 are from Jammu division, adding that the total number of positive cases in Kashmir division have reached to 215,975 including 212,469 recoveries and 2,332 deaths while as total number of positive cases in Jammu division have reached to 127,335 including 123,815 recoveries and 2,202 deaths.
The officials said that the total number of active cases in Jammu and Kashmir are 2,492 including 1,174 from Kashmir division and 1,318 from Jammu division.
With 98 more recoveries, the tally of total recoveries in Jammu and Kashmir has reached 336,284 which is 97.95 percent of the total cases.
“Cases tested positive in J&K include 137 from Srinagar, 48 from Baramulla, 20 from Budgam, 02 from Pulwama, 17 from Kupwara, 05 from Anantnag, 03 from Bandipora, 04 from Ganderbal, 18 each from Kulgam and 00 Shopian in Kashmir division while as 288 from Jammu division include 176 from Jammu division, 16 from Udhampur, 14 from Rajouri, 15 from Doda, 23 from Kathua, 07 from Samba, 04 from Kishtwar, 06 from Poonch, 00 from Ramban and 27 from Reasi,” officials disclosed.
Meanwhile, authorities said that no fresh cases of Mucormycosis popularly known as black fungus was reported in the UT and the tally stands at 51.
As per officials figures, 79,265 positive cases including 884 deaths and 77,763 recoveries are from Srinagar, 26,119 including 291 deaths and 25,650 recoveries are from Baramulla, 24,593 including 24,286 recoveries and 217 deaths are from Budgam, 15,770 including 15,517 recoveries and 195 deaths are from Pulwama, 15,026 including 167 deaths and 14,793 recoveries are from Kupwara, 16,754 including 16,524 recoveries and 208 deaths are from Anantnag, 10,197 cases including 10,058 and 111 deaths are from Bandipora, 11,050 including 10,890 recoveries and 82 deaths are from Ganderbal, 11,580 including 11,429 recoveries and 118 deaths are from Kulgam and 5,621 including 5,559 recoveries and 59 deaths are from Shopian.
In Jammu division, 54,779 including 52,876 recoveries and 1,159 deaths are from Jammu district, 11,539 including 11,337 recoveries and 139 deaths are from Udhampur, 11,417 including 11,140 recoveries and 240 deaths are from Rajouri, 8,099 including 7,894 recoveries and 137 deaths are from Doda, 9,445 including 9,234 recoveries and 153 deaths are from Kathua, 7,201 including 7,060 recoveries and 120 deaths are from Samba, 4,867 including 4,809 recoveries and 44 deaths are from Kishtwar, 6,651 including 6,505 recoveries and 100 deaths are from Poonch, 6,087 including 6,006 recoveries and 67 deaths are from Ramban and 7,250 including 6,954 recoveries and 43 deaths are from Reasi.
As per the daily information bulletin 5,380,162 persons in Jammu and Kashmir are under observation while 8,264 persons have been kept under home quarantine besides that 2,492 persons are in isolation.
According to the bulletin, 4,933,116 persons have completed the surveillance period and 431,756 persons are under home surveillance besides that so far results of 19,730,457 samples are available. Out of 19,730,457 the number of samples tested negative stands at 19,387,147 while as 343,310 have tested positive, among them 2,492 persons are active, 336,284 persons have recovered and 4,534 persons have died.
