One-way trend continues

The one-way traffic on Srinagar-Jammu highway is continuing from last nearly one month as the only road connecting the Valley with the rest of the States of the country witnessed frequent landslides and shooting stones yet again following the snowfall along the road. Such a situation is continuing for years during the winter season here as the wet spell has always been leading to the disruption of the traffic movement along the Srinagar-Jammu highway. One fails to understand how long the people across the Valley are supposed to face such hardships as it doesn’t affect the scheduled trip of the travelers only, but also lead to the shortage of essentials in the Valley as well. It is worth mentioning here that the shortage of the essentials here leads to the black marketing as well as the skyrocketing prices of the essentials as well. The government has been claiming to have taken measures for ensuring better roads to the people, but a look at the mountainous road is putting a question mark over the tall claims of the administration as there seems no let up from the sufferings as well as the hardships being faced by the people due to the frequent closure of the only road. There is a need to ensure better road connectivity for the people so that the ongoing one-way traffic trend is put to an immediate end and the people, who are forced to be stuck from time to time, could heave a sigh of relief.
