After weeks of hectic efforts by the administration, Jammu and Kashmir has recorded a decline in the number of daily Covid cases where the daily tally has plummeted to below 800 cases for the second straight day. The spurt in the Covid cases forced the government to take several measures including the imposition of weekend lockdown, which has been lifted now by the administration after the cases recorded decline. The ease in the restrictions began in Jammu and Kashmir with the lifting of weekend lockdown as well as allowing the coaching centres to go ahead with the offline teaching with 50 per cent capacity. Moreover, the ease in the restrictions has generated a hope among the masses, especially the students with regard to reopening of schools, which continued to remain closed for nearly three years now. It is expected that the government will allow offline teaching at the schools as well, as the government has stated that the decision in this regard will be taken after 15 days in case the situation improves further on the ground. Therefore, it stands the responsibility of everyone to ensure all the protocols and guidelines issued by the government are followed in letter and spirit so that there is more improvement on the ground and the decision with regard to the reopening of schools is not delayed any further. The strict adherence to the Covid related guidelines have to be ensured so that the things can be settled in ease and the schools are open for the students again.
