The recently declared class 12th Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education (JKBOSE) results here has indicated an improvement in the Government run schools as many students from these institutions have not only qualified the exams but also bagged the positions as well. However, some of the schools continued to witness poor results. In one such instance, twin government-run-schools in Gurez Valley in north Kashmir’s Bandipora district recorded 75 and 76 per cent results in the JKBOSE exams. But the third has shown a poor performance where zero percent results have come to the fore, which is a cause of concern. The exams were held and the subsequent results were declared at a time when the offline teaching at the schools have been suspended in wake of the Covid-19. In order to ensure proper investigation into the matter, there is a need to probe whether online education has affected the study of the students who appeared in the Class 12th exams and failed to qualify. Therefore, the government should constitute teams in this regard to bring the facts to the fore and take appropriate measures in this regard to ensure that the performance of the government run schools are improved further. In the last couple of years, the government run schools are improving, but to ensure 100 percent performance, there is a need to take more proactive decisions that will ensure better teaching to the students so that they are able to compete with the students from other districts like Srinagar, summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir.
