The developmental works across Jammu and Kashmir are in full swing as the government has promised a new dawn of development in the Union Territory, which it believes that the people have been deprived of it since last seven decades. However, the ongoing works and the delay in releasing of the payments to the contractors certainly cannot move together and thus could possible lead to the delay in completion of the projects. It has been reported that the contractors, who have not been given the pending amount for a long now, have decided to cancel their tenders in case their demands of immediate release of payments will not be resolved. The demands for the release of payments have been reported for a long now. It has been witnessed that work on many major as well as the pivotal projects have come to a grinding halt as the contractors according to the reports have not been given the pending payment yet. Nonetheless, the decision taken by the contractors at this juncture, is set to bring the developmental works at a grinding halt as the possibility of continuous work will be less if the tenders are cancelled. Therefore in order to ensure timely completion of the developmental projects, the government should take measures to release the pending payments of the contractors so that the tenders are not cancelled.
