Pattan, Mar 28: Residents of Rather Mohalla Goushbugh village in North Kashmir’s Baramulla district, on Monday protested over failure of authorities in constructing drainage system in the area.
Local residents complained that bad maintenance of the drainage system was creating problems for the locality.
Aisha, a local resident said that the stagnant sewage poses a serious health hazard to the residents, especially children, who often fall sick.
The situation is really worse at Sofi Mohalla, Rather Mohalla, and Ganie Mohalla of Goushbugh, as the drainage is not treated properly and in addition the drainage is often left open. “As a result, drains even overflow on roads and water submerged into houses in the locality creating an unhygienic situation.
She said that that they have filed a complaint with the concerned Sarpanch several times on many occasions but no action has yet been taken.
Ashfaq Rather, a student said that they need well-defined channels through which the wasted water could be drained into trenches, so that our village might be safe from these hardships.
Meanwhile, the local residents of the area appealed to the concerned competent authority to look into the matter at an earliest to ease the sufferings of common public. (KNO)
