CBK files charge-sheet against proprietors of Travel company for duping Hajj aspirants

Srinagar, Mar 31: The Crime Branch Kashmir on Thursday claimed to have filed a charge-sheet against the proprietors of A&Y Tour and Travels for duping and cheating Hajj aspirants & grabbing an amount of Rs eight lakhs fraudulently on the pretext of organizing Hajj pilgrimage.
In a statement, CBK said that it filed a charge-sheet in a case under FIR number 38/2020 under section 420, 120-B RPC of P/S CBK before the Court of Chief Judicial Magistrate Srinagar against Shoiab Ashraf Khan, son of Muhammad Ashraf Khan of Goal Market Srinagar and Ashiq Hussain Mir, son of Mehraj-u-din Mir of Gulab Bagh Zakoora Srinagar (proprietors of A&Y Tour and Travels) for duping, cheating Hajj aspirants and grabbing an amount of Rs 8 lakhs fraudulently & dishonestly on the pretext of organizing Hajj pilgrimage.
“The Crime Branch Kashmir, received a written complaint from one Nazir Ahmad Dar alleging therein that one Shoiab Ashraf Khan S/o Mohd Ashraf Khan R/o Goal Market Karanagar Srinagar, proprietor of A&Y Tour and Travels has grabbed an amount of Rs 8.00 lakhs on the pretext of organizing Hajj pilgrimage. On receipt of this complaint an enquiry was initiated at Crime Branch Kashmir.”
“The enquiry conducted revealed that the accused Shoiab Ashraf Khan is running Tour & Travel companies under the name and style ‘EDRAAL Tour & Travels’ and ‘A&Y’ at Nigeen and Kangan respectively for Hajj and Umrah purposes in partnership with another accused namely Ashiq Hussain Mir.”
“The accused induced the complaint and his associates to credit an amount of Rs 8.00 Lac for managing Hajj Pilgrimage for them. However, after receiving the money accused persons closed their Tour and Travel office and could not be traced by the complainant, despite his incessant efforts.”
Accordingly, a case under FIR number 38/2020 under section 420, 120-B RPC was registered in P/S CBK, the statement said, adding that the investigation, so conducted established cheating on part of the said accused persons and keeping in view the facts and evidence collected during the investigation offences punishable under section 420 RPC were proved against the accused persons and Challan submitted in the Court of Law.
