After a long time, the government has finally come up with an unique initiative to protect the world famous Dal Lake and remove the garbage and other things from the water body like the way a civil society did at Khushal Sar Lake in recent, which is now breathing like the past. The much-needed initiative was flagged off by the Lieutenant Governor Saturday, generating hope among the local populace with regard to the clean Dal Lake here. In the recent past, a civil society took an initiative and cleaned the Khushal Sar, which was once famous and gave new life to the water body. The clean water bodies and preservation of Dal and other lakes is the need of the hour as these lakes are ensuring livelihood to many people and attract a huge number of tourists from and outside the country. In these lakes, several people are also living in the houseboats while a large number of people, especially youth are earning bread and butter for their respective families through Shikaras and these houseboats. In such a way, protection and preservation of the water bodies is not only the need of the hour but also mandatory for the government as well as the people, which would ensure safety of the jobs of the people. Therefore, there is a need to ensure that the initiative is taken forward and the goal for flagging off this process is achieved. The people should also voluntarily come forward and cooperate with the government in this regard to ensure that the asset of Jammu and Kashmir is preserved for the generations to come.
