Sonamarg sees 66078 visitors in March

Ganderbal, Apr 14: Sonmarg is witnessing heavy footfall of tourists with 66,078 tourists visiting the tourist destination in March alone.
Sonamarg, with a literal meaning ‘the meadow of gold’ and with snow clad mountains sharing a spectacular blue sky, situated at an altitude of 2730 m, is a mesmerizing hill station in district Ganderbal.
There was a surge in tourists since March 1 with a total of 66,078 tourists visiting the place. Among them, 62,125 were domestic, 3939 local visitors, and 14 foreigners, Tourist Officer Sonamarg Basharat Hussain said.
“The flow of tourists is much better than what it was earlier. After Covid we are thankful to the tourism department for the promotion and with time its getting better and better, a local hotelier.
Shahzad Rasool a hotelier at Sonamarg said that this time all hotels are packed and the season is going on very well after several years.
