DC Srinagar holds Public Grievance Redressal Camp at Zainakote

Srinagar May 11: To listen to the grievances of people and take appraisal of local issues at their door steps, the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Srinagar, Mohammad Aijaz Asad Wednesday held a Public Grievance Redressal Camp at Zainakote in Shalteng Tehsil in the outskirts of the district as a part of Public Outreach Programme.
The programme witnessed large participation of people from Zainakote, HMT, Umer Abad, Usman Abad, Mujgund, Khushipora, Shalteng, Hokersar and other adjoining areas of Shalteng Tehsil of Srinagar.
Among others, the Public Grievance Redressal Camp was attended by Chief Planning Officer, Deputy Director Employment, Sub Divisional Magistrate, West, Chief Education Officer, District Officers of Agriculture, Animal Husbandry, Social Welfare Officer, CMO, Assistant Commissioner Labour, Tehsildar Shalteng, Lead Bank Manager and other Zonal and Sectoral Officers of the District.
During the Grievance Redressal Camp, Public delegations and scores of individuals projected various developmental issues before the DC including allotment of additional land for Government Higher Secondary School, Zainakote and Middle School, Zainakote, development of Playfield and public Park, commissioning of ITI, providing land for construction of health centre, construction of public convenience points at Shalteng junction, augmentation of drainage system in the area, repairs of lanes, drains and street lights, macadamization of roads, irrigation related and other issues.
After giving patient hearing to the grievances and demands of the public, the DC sought on the spot response from the concerned District Officers present during the Grievance Redressal Camp.
With regard to allotment of additional land to Government Higher Secondary School, Zainakote and Middle School, Zainakote, the DC gave on the spot directions to the Revenue authorities for the transfer of land. He also accorded sanction for providing 2 kanals of land for construction of new Health Centre at Zainakote.
The DC assured the people of Shelteng Tehsil that all other genuine demands and issues projected by them will be looked into on priority for their speedy redressal.
Addressing the gathering, the DC said that the purpose of holding such grievance redressal Camps is to take appraisal of local issues from the general public for precise and on-ground assessment for time bound redressal.
The DC stressed upon the people to contribute in conservation and preservation of Hokersar wetland which is a winter wonderland and bird paradise so that its pristine glory is restored for maintaining ecological balance, landscaping and overall development of the area.
On the occasion, people of the area thanked the DC for conducting a public outreach programme at Zainakote, HMT for the first time and bringing Administration at the doorsteps of the people for early redressal of their grievances and issues.
Later, the DC visited the Government Higher Secondary School, Zainakote and Middle School, Zainakote and took on the spot assessment of paucity of accommodation and requirements of additional land. He asked the concerned to speed up the process of land transfer to the education department, besides submitting a DPR for the construction and other allied works purposes.
