Ganderbal, May 23: Despite the claims of the administration in taking strict action against encroachers, shopkeepers and street vendors in the main market of central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district continue to occupy footpaths and roads making the movement of vehicles and pedestrians difficult.
Reports said that street vendors and shopkeepers are seen occupying footpaths in Main Town Ganderbal from Behaama to Duderhama Chowk.
Locals said that encroachers randomly occupy footpaths leaving no space for the movement of pedestrians and vehicles on roads.
Even pedestrians are forced to walk on the main road as the footpaths have been occupied either by shopkeepers or roadside vendors, said a local Shah Basit.
Meanwhile, the commuters sought the intervention of higher authorities for immediate removal of encroachers.
