‘Child Labour Elimination week’ kick starts at Bandipora

Bandipora, Jun 13: The Integrated Child Protection Services (ICPS) Bandipora, Department of Labour Bandipora, JKSWM (NGO) Monday jointly kickstarted week for Elimination of Child Labour in Bandipora.
The week is being observed by these joint departments in collaboration with Alim Adab Aab Foundation, Elixir Garden School and SAKHI – One Stop Centre, Bandipora under the supervision of District Administration Bandipora.
An inaugural ceremony to kickstart the Week for Elimination of Child Labour was held at Conference Hall, SAKHI OSC Bandipora in which various line departments including ICDS, ICPS, CWC, MSK, Civil Society members, volunteers and students participated.
The aim of the observing child labour week is to make awareness about child labour and to take necessary measures to eradicate child labour and child harassment.
Assistant Labour Commissioner (ALC), Bandipora Mohammad Arif chaired the event as Chief Guest. In his speech ALC emphasised the need to eradicate child labour and to work for the same. He expressed great concern about child labour.
Gowhar Mahmood, ICPS, Bandipora highlighted the role of ICPS and gave detailed information about Juvenile Justice Act. Gowhar in his speech said that the Integrated Child Protection Scheme (ICPS), a centrally sponsored Scheme, with the primary aim of establishing a safety net of dedicated and quality personnel, structures and services for Child Protection across the country.
G. M. Mir, Chairperson, Child Welfare Committee, Bandipora, Dr. Bilal Sarwar Sheikh, Chairman, Advisory Board, JKSWM and Chairman, Elixir Garden School, Aloosa, Shabnum Shaban, Coordinator, JKSWM,
Rehana Akhter, Secretary, JKSWM, Mohammad Hashim, Member, JJB and other participants also threw light on child labour and its impacts.
