Anantnag, Jun 21: Union Minister of State for Health & Family Welfare Bharati Pravin Pawar led the 8th International Day of Yoga (IDY) 2022 celebrations held at Martand Sun Temple in Anantnag.
The nation-wide IDY showcasing the mass Common Yoga Protocol (CYP) demonstrations were observed at 75 iconic locations across the country and the main event was led by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Mysuru in Kanataka. The eighth edition of IDY is being celebrated with the theme “Yoga for Humanity”.
In her address about the benefits of Yoga the Union Minister said that Yoga will bring people together through compassion and kindness and foster a sense of unity. She said that Yoga brings joy, health, and peace from within and deepens connection between an individual’s inner consciousness and the external world.
Emphasizing on the essential need of every individual’s participation in Yoga she said that Yoga has mental, physical and spiritual aspects that are essential for the overall wellbeing and healthy life style of the society. The Minister expressed happiness for being a part of the Yoga Day Celebrations at Anantnag and lauded the administration for organising numerous programs across the district.
“Yoga has got a distinct place in the world and people across the globe have adopted this as a part of fit and healthy way of life. That is why experts, scientists, health professionals, researchers across the globe are taking part and sensitising people about the innumerable benefits of Yoga,” she said.
The Minister emphasized that Yoga is among the top priorities and the Union government has taken vast measures to take it to the new heights for the benefit of the whole humanity. She added that it is a moment of pride to witness huge participation in Yoga and government has taken steps to promote the practice and training of Common Yoga Protocol which will benefit millions of the people.
Commenting on the developmental initiatives undertaken in the district the Minister said that the Union government is taking every possible measure towards the engagement of youth in productive activities by providing assistance and training in different fields. She said that employment avenues have been boosted and 335 youth and eco-clubs have been established to promote sports related and youth centric programs in the district. “212 play fields have been established the by district administration and soon every panchayat will have its own play field,” the MoS quoted.
