DC Baramulla lays foundation stone of WSS under JJM at Kanispora

Baramulla, Jun 30: The District Development Commissioner (DDC) Baramulla, Dr. Syed Sehrish Asgar today paid visit to Kanispora where she laid foundation stone of Water Supply Scheme under Central government’s prestigious flagship programme “Jal Jeevan Mission” aiming to benefit about one thousand households of the area.
The estimated cost of the Water Supply Scheme is Rs. 10.74 Crores.
While laying the foundation stone of the Water supply scheme, the DDC was accompanied by District Development Council Member Baramulla Quratul Ain, Superintending Engineer Jal Shakti PHE Department North Kashmir.
Speaking on the occasion, the DDC said that the Water Supply Scheme was the long pending demand of the area and asserted that the project will be completed within the set deadline.
She also said that the government is working on a mission mode taking along the aspirations of the locals to secure for them a prosperous life where all the demands are fulfilled in a time bound manner.
Regarding the drinking water supply, she said it is a service delivery, wherein the quantity, quality of water supplied and periodicity of water supply has to be ensured for which the flagship programme, Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) is under implementation. The objective of the Mission is universal coverage i.e. every family in the village gets tap water connection in their household.
Meanwhile, the DDC also interacted with the people of the area during which residents of the area thanked the district administration for laying the foundation stone of this water supply scheme for them. They said the locals were facing immense hardships in the absence of pure drinking water supply. They said the schemes will bring much respite to the people especially the women folk.
