Yet again, as the Eid-ul-Adha is approaching, the tussle has once again started between the government and the mutton dealers as the mutton dealers have clearly refused to accept the fixed rates set by the government. Such happenings is an indication that the people would always be forced to face hardships as despite issuing rates, the mutton dealers always show reluctance to accept what they are being directed to. At this juncture, the tussle has reached to the extreme level where the government has decided to suspend the licenses of those dealers and sellers who are found defying the orders. Besides, those who are not registered or license holders and are found disobeying the fixed rates will not be allowed to sell the sacrificial livestock in the market places. The government has fixed Rs 310 for sacrificial animals this year while the mutton dealers have clearly stated that it would sell the livestock at the cost of Rs 360/kg, which is set to push the consumers to the wall. Amid the ongoing tussle, it is people who ultimately suffer at the end of the day as the orders being issued by the government are never being implemented on the ground and remain confined to the papers only. The time has come when the government must ensure that its orders are implemented in letter and spirit. This year, the concerned department should form additional teams to ensure that the norm violators are stopped from selling the sacrificial animals. Besides, the mutton dealers should also shun the rigid approach as it has been observed that these people never accept the orders and sell the stuff as per their will.
