The markets are witnessing a buzz once again as the Muslims across Jammu and Kashmir are set to celebrate Eid-ul-Adha on Sunday. However, the absence of adequate car parking in Srinagar, has left the shoppers to lurch at large with the shopkeepers claiming that their business that usually remains at peak during the festival eve, has got affected as the concerned authorities don’t allow the commuters to park their cars on the roads, close to their shops. In this regard, a trade body has even made a fervent appeal to the administration, seeking their support to allow the commuters to park vehicles outside their shops for sometime till they buy the essentials as well as the clothes and other related things. The commuters prefer to visit other places instead of the commercial hub Lal Chowk as they are being fined for parking the vehicles outside the shops, which has simultaneously affected the business as well. Although twin car parking has been established by the government in the vicinity of Lal Chowk, but according to the commuters, the space is not enough to cater the rush of huge vehicles in wake of the increasing rush of shoppers ahead of Eid-ul-Adha. In wake of the Eid, the concerned authorities at this juncture should allow the car parking outside the shops for sometime till the commuters buy the essentials, food stuff, clothes and other things. Such a decision as a good will gesture is a need of the hour for the next few days as it would ease the sufferings of commuters and also help the business establishments to earn livelihood ahead of the festival.
