Take grievances seriously

The grave issue of water scarcity at many places, being reported in the section of media on a regular basis, ahead of the Eid-ul-Adha needs to be taken seriously and must be resolved in a bid to ensure uninterrupted water supply to the people on the eve of the festival. From the last couple of days, a section of the media is highlighting the plea of the consumers at different places, who either hit the streets or press for their demand silently. The absence of adequate water supply at this juncture is not only irksome but pushes the households to the wall. It is not for the first time that the people have hit the streets to press for their demands, but in the past such reports have been published frequently, which puts a question mark over the claims of the concerned department with regard to the much-hyped ‘Jal Jeevan Mission’, an initiative launched by the government. The water supply is one among the basic facilities and depriving people from such a basic right is pointing towards the non-seriousness of the concerned department in ensuring better facilities to its consumers ahead of the festival as well as amid the scorching heat. The reports must be taken seriously and the higher authorities should direct the officials to identify all these areas and ensure uninterrupted water supply, directed by the administration, should be ensured to the people, especially on the eve of festival, so that they could heave a sigh of relief.
