The staunch stance of the government in ensuring selection on merit basis is a welcome and appreciable step, but the question arises why the youth, who are trying to give their best in the selection process and are not involved in any scams, are being pushed to the wall. There are hundreds of youth, who participated in the recent selection process, but one has been cancelled by the government following the reports of some wrongdoings while the speculations are on rife that the other recruiting process will also be cancelled. However, the government has not made it clear whether the selection list will be cancelled. Amid the speculations, a top rank officer in Jammu and Kashmir has Monday stated that the government would not tolerate any wrongdoings in the selection process for jobs in the public sector as merit was the only criterion for entering into government service. Such a statement is a welcome step and there is no iota of doubt that the administration is putting every effort to identify the people involved in wrongdoings. However, the million dollar question amid such happenings remains that why is the selection process being cancelled? Why is the government not able to identify the black sheep only and help the deserving lot to achieve the goal for which they have been working day-in and day-out for the last several years. The government should consider investigating the matter thoroughly instead of cancelling the selection list to pave way for the deserving lot to achieve the goal without hardships and sufferings.
