Srinagar, Jul 28: Chhari-Mubarak of lord Shiva led by Mahant Deependra Giri was taken to historic Shankaracharya temple in Srinagar on Thursday for prayers on the occasion of ‘Haryali-Amavasya’ as per the Hindu customs and traditions.
People familiar with the development said that Puja was performed by chanting Vedic hymns.
They said that a number of Sadhus and pilgrims participated in the prayers.
They added that prayers were also offered for peace and prosperity of the country and Jammu and Kashmir.
The Chhari-Mubarak Swami Amarnath Ji led by Mahant Deependra Giri Ji was taken to historic Shankaracharya temple, Srinagar, located at Gopadri Hills today for prayers on the occasion of ‘Haryali-Amavasya’ (Shravan Amavasya) as per the age-old customs.
The sound of a conch shell charged the whole atmosphere. Pujan was performed, chanting Vedic hymns. Sadhus who accompanied Holy Mace participated in the prayers that lasted for more than two hours. The congregational prayers were also offered for peace and prosperity of Jammu & Kashmir.
Chhari-Mubarak shall be taken to ‘Sharika-Bhawani’ temple, Hari Parvat, Srinagar to pay obeisance to the Goddess tomorrow.
