Time to act responsibly

For the first time in the recent past, the head of religious organizations have woke up from the deep slumber to take a call over the unnecessary statements by the religious clerics on different sects within the Islam. After some incidents went viral on social media, the organizations under one umbrella have held a meeting to discuss the issue, which was widely condemned and criticized by the denizens. One should understand the responsibility and role while going through such incidents. However, the people also didn’t acted responsibly but kept sharing the incidents on social media which defamed the Islam and also put a question mark over the role being played by the religious clerics. One fails to understand why the people in respective localities allow such clerics to deliver sermons, who are hell-bent to defame the religion as well as creating rifts among the different sects. Nonetheless, the directions that came from Mutahida-Majlis-e-Ulema (MMU) at this juncture was not only the need of the hour, but was imperative to ensure that the situation remains calm. There is a need to come up with more such stringent measures so that nobody is allowed to play with the religious sentiments of others as well as ensure that only teachings of Islam is highlighted on the pulpits. The people too have a responsibility and they should not add fuel to the situation, rather they should not share such incidents and happenings on social media to ensure that nobody points fingers towards the religion.
