Srinagar, Aug 3: The patients at the Jawahar Lal Nehru Memorial (JLNM) hospital at Rainawari Srinagar are suffering due to the shortage of doctors from the last few days.
Several patients and attendants said that there is shortage of doctors at JLNM hospital Rainawari due to which they are suffering.
Aaqib Ahmad, a patient from Srinagar alleged that on Wednesday he went to JLNM for treatment of some ailment but to his utter shock there was no doctor available in the OPD.
He said that dozens of patients had to return home without getting treatment at the hospital due to shortage of doctors.
Another patient, wishing not to be named, said that there were three doctors available in the gynaecology section a week ago but on Wednesday they went there and saw just one doctor available for patients.
Patients as well as attendants have requested higher ups to look into the matter at an earliest and deploy adequate staff there so that patients won’t suffer anymore.
Meanwhile, Medical Superintendent JLNM, Dr Rouf Ahmad while acknowledging shortage of doctors at the hospital said that they are trying to cope up and deal with the situation efficiently.
He said that this situation has arisen as the government cancelled the attachment order of doctors and there were just one to two doctors available in OPD where usually 3-4 doctors were seeing patients there.
“There are many doctors from CMO office attached here who have been relieved but we are running and coping up,” he said.
