Coronavirus: JK reports one death, 779 fresh cases

Srinagar, Aug 4: Jammu and Kashmir Thursday reported 779 fresh cases of Covid-19, pushing the number of active cases to 4,991 while one more death was reported in the UT in last 24 hours taking death toll to 4,774.
An official said that among 779 new cases, 637 belong to Kashmir division while as 142 to Jammu division.
He said that the total number of positive cases in Kashmir have reached to 295,329 including 289,392 recoveries and 2,429 deaths, while total number of positive cases in Jammu division have reached to 172,093 including 168,265 recoveries and 2,345 deaths. He further said that the total number of active cases in Jammu and Kashmir are 4,991 including 3,508 from Kashmir division and 1,483 from Jammu division.
With 727 more recoveries, the tally of total recoveries in J&K has reached to 457,657 which is 97.91 percent of the total cases.
“Among the fresh 779 cases today, 248 are from Srinagar, 156 from Baramulla, 80 from Budgam, 15 from Pulwama 45 from Kupwara, 40 from Anantnag, 22 from Bandipora, 06 from Ganderbal, 23 from Kulgam and 02 from Shopian in Kashmir division while 142 are from Jammu division that include 59 from Jammu district, 10 from Udhampur, 05 from Rajouri, 18 from Doda, 11 from Kuthua, 05 from Samba, 15 from Kishtwar, 07 from Poonch, 11 from Ramban and 01 from Reasi,” said the official.
As per the daily information bulletin 6,698,643 persons in J&K are under observation while 137 persons have been kept under home quarantine besides 4,991 persons are in isolation.
According to the bulletin, 6,688,447 persons have completed the surveillance period and 294 persons are under home surveillance besides so far results of 26,182,988 samples are available.
“Out of 26,182,988 the number of samples tested negative stands at 25,715,566 while 467,422 have tested positive, among them 4,991 cases are active, 457,657 have recovered and 4,774 persons have died,” it added.
