Coronavirus: 796 test positive in JK

Srinagar, Aug 6: Jammu and Kashmir Saturday reported 796 fresh cases of Covid-19, pushing the number of active cases to 5,261 while no more death was reported in the UT in the last 24 hours and the death toll stands at 4,776.
An official said that among 796 new cases, 660 belong to Kashmir division while 136 to Jammu division.
He said that the total number of positive cases in Kashmir have reached to 296,622 including 290,288 recoveries and 2,430 deaths, while total number of positive cases in Jammu division have reached to 172,419 including 168,716 recoveries and 2,346 deaths. He further said that the total number of active cases in Jammu and Kashmir are 5,261 including 3,904 from Kashmir division and 1,357 from Jammu division.
With 668 more recoveries, the tally of total recoveries in J&K has reached to 459,004 which is 97.85 percent of the total cases.
“Among the fresh 796 cases today, 219 are from Srinagar, 194 from Baramulla, 81 from Budgam, 07 from Pulwama 66 from Kupwara, 41 from Anantnag, 16 from Bandipora, 04 from Ganderbal, 29 from Kulgam and 01 from Shopian in Kashmir division while 136 are from Jammu division that include 52 from Jammu district, 12 from Udhampur, 11 from Rajouri, 23 from Doda, 05 from Kuthua , 04 from Samba, 10 from Kishtwar, 02 from Poonch, 16 from Ramban and 01 from Reasi,” said the official.
As per the daily information bulletin 6,699,253 persons in J&K are under observation while 140 persons have been kept under home quarantine besides 5,261 persons are in isolation.
According to the bulletin, 6,688,758 persons have completed the surveillance period and 317 persons are under home surveillance besides so far results of 26,210,444 samples are available.
“Out of 26,210,444 the number of samples tested negative stands at 25,741,403 while 469,041 have tested positive, among them 5,261 cases are active, 459,004 have recovered and 4,776 persons have died,” it added.
