Don’t make poor homeless

At a time when the basic facilities, especially the potholed roads have not been macadamized for years together in Srinagar, the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir, the administration is out to waste the public exchequer by demolishing the already existing developmental works. In one such instance, a first of its kind concrete park, located near Ganta Ghar area of Srinagar in the commercial Hub Lal Chowk, has been demolished for unknown reasons. It has come to the fore that the park was constructed at the cost of nearly 2.5 crores during the tenure of National Conference (NC) in Jammu and Kashmir. One fails to understand why the park has been demolished as according to the people, it would serve no cause to the public. There are several other important things that need to be done, rather than indulging in such practices. The people in Srinagar have been facing immense hardships in absence of the proper macadamized roads, but the concerned hardly bother to look into their miseries as the least important projects are getting priority for the present dispensation, which would not bring any respite to the people anyway. It is a time when the public money should not be wasted; rather, some important decision with regard to the better development must be taken to ensure that the people here could heave a sigh of relief.
