The Jammu and Kashmir government is all set to conduct a fresh recruitment drive for the already announced posts after cancellation of three drives back to back following the allegations of irregularities and ordering a CBI probe to ascertain the facts. But, one wonders how the fresh recruitment drive would be possible at a time when the previous allegations are yet to be probed. The fresh recruitment drive would also put a question mark over the credibility of the administration in ensuring transparency during the recruitment process. At this juncture, it is pivotal to probe the allegations of irregularities in the past recruitment drives and those involved have to be taken to the task. It would not serve any cause if the new recruitment drive will be carried out without ensuring justice to the youth, who were waiting for the years together to get the jobs after a lot of hard work. The probe has to be completed in a time-bound manner so that the cancellation of the exams would serve a cause and also pave the way for the fresh recruitment process. The fresh recruitment without clearing the past would create a wedge between the youth and the government. It is a time to build confidence among the youth by probing the allegations and bringing the facts public. The government should focus on making things clear rather than opting to go for other examinations, which would be akin to rubbing salt on the wounds of the candidates.
