Anantnag, Sep 5: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Anantnag, Dr Basharat Qayoom Monday held a meeting for finalizing the location to setup an Integrated Rehabilitation Centre (IRC) for addicts to provide in-patient and out-patient care 24 x 7.
The chair was informed that a drug de-addiction centre providing out-patient care is already functional in the district. He was informed that the centre is providing rehabilitation facilities to victims of drug abuse.
The DC directed attendees to ensure that the facilities at the already functional centre are augmented as per need. He said that 10 beds must be kept reserved in GMC Anantnag for victims of drug abuse.
He further set a deadline of one week to finalize the location for setting up an IRC. He said the centre may be established either within the premises of a functioning health facility or in an easily accessible area.
HoD Psychiatry department apprised the chair regarding footfall of patients to the drug de-addiction facilities and briefed on the service being provided.
The DC emphasized that counseling, necessary medicines and rehabilitation facilities must be extended to all patients in need.
The meeting was attended by ADDC, ADC, and DSWO among others.
