Don’t make poor homeless

In the backdrop of events taking place in two weeks, the authorities have finally shut down the surgical procedures at one of the private institutions here in Srinagar, the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir. However, such events and episodes have been witnessed from time to time in the Valley, especially in Srinagar. But, one fails to understand why the justice eludes people, who raise doubts over the negligence at the private hospitals. There are possibilities of baseless allegations, but not all can be untrue. It has been seen that the enquiries from time to time have been launched, but every time the doctors are being given clean chit, which raises eyebrows among the local populace, who believe that the medicos as well as the private institutions here are being shielded and no action is being taken against those involved in the negligence. It needs to be understood that the precious lives have been lost in the past two weeks and mere shutting down the surgical procedures will not do, but needs an apt action to ensure that no such incident takes place at any private institution in the future. It is not a time to look at the reputation of the private institution, but the priority should be the precious life that has been lost recently. Therefore, there is a dire need to investigate all the angles in the matter and ensure that any negligence will face stern action to prevent the loss of lives in the future.
