Why to rely on single hospital?

The much-hyped children’s hospital in Bemina area of Srinagar is all set to start functioning from September 26 while the erstwhile GB Pant hospital would likely accommodate the patients from Chest Disease hospital as the government is reportedly planning to shift the hospital to GB Pant. But, what needs to be understood is that the need to have more and sufficient hospitals for the patients is not only the need of the hour, but mandatory to tackle the increasing flow of minor patients. The 500-bed hospital in Bemina might bring respite to the people, who visit from different parts of Valley for treatment, but the present children’s hospital (G B Pant) should continue its functioning as it is better to have two hospitals rather than relying on single hospital for the treatment of minor patients. The better treatment of the children would ensure a better society in the future and thus it becomes imperative to have more than one children’s hospital in the Valley to tackle the rush of patients and ensure the best health care facility for them. The government needs to consider the continuous functioning of the G B pant hospital for the betterment of the patients and also bringing respite to the people, who visit the hospital more frequently given the major health issues of their children. It is the time when the government should focus on providing better health care to the children so that the future of the nation is not forced to face hardships or pushed to the wall in terms of getting medical treatment due to the lack of space or the facilities.
