Shopian, Nov 28: A road which according to locals was macadamised after a decade this year was damaged at several spots after PHE dug it to lay a water pipe.
Locals from Pehlipora Shopian said that a road from Keller-Pehlipora in Shopian district was macadamised by the PMGSY department after almost 2 decades.
But two months later, the PHE department started digging the road to lay a pipeline which has caused damage to the road and drainage at several spots.
They said that the PHE department should have laid the pipeline earlier.
AEE PMGSY concerned Riyaz Ahmad said that PHE hasn’t sought any permission from them and he has already stopped their work twice so far.
He said that we have macadamised this road just two months and they have damaged it and if they would have asked for permission, NOC, we would have rectified it ourselves.
“We are going to lodge an FIR against them,” he said.
Meanwhile, AEE PHE Ab. Rashid said that they have sought permission for many schemes together at higher level as almost all lines under JJM are along macadamised roads of R&B and PMGSY so collective permission has been sought at higher level not at individual capacity.
“If there will be damage anywhere, we will rectify it ourselves and we are hopeful that permission for the entire pipeline to be laid is expected to come soon,” he said.
“Road is also for us and we won’t unnecessarily dig its shoulder as there is no corridor available and in case of leakage. We are facing more problems when it is close to the road and locals are not allowed to let the pipeline go through their land,” he said.
“We are trying our best that the road shouldn’t get damaged and if anywhere it would have happened. We are going to rectify it,” he said.
