27 surgeries conducted at Super Speciality Hospital Srinagar daily

‘600 patients visit hospital every day’

Srinagar, Dec 23: A major caseload of patients is being managed at Super Speciality Hospital Shireen Bagh Srinagar where on average 27 major and minor surgeries are being conducted on a daily basis.
An average 600 patients visit the hospital per day with 13 major and 14 minor surgeries being conducted at the hospital, a health official said.
“In a rare achievement, a team of doctors at Super Speciality Hospital, Government Medical College Srinagar performed endoscopic ultrasonography-guided biliary drainage (EUS-BD) or Choledochoduodenostomy (CDD) recently for the first time in Jammu and Kashmir. This procedure was the first of its kind in Kashmir as previously, these patients had to go to New Delhi for treatment which would cost them Rs 2 to 3 lakh,” he said.
He added that 11 cardiac interventions, 81 GE procedures (UG/LGI/ERCP/F.S) and 12 renal intervention procedures are being conducted on a daily basis at the hospital.
An official from SMHS Hospital said that 79,870 patients visited SMHS OPD in November which means on average over 3,000 patients are visiting the hospital.
He said that 1,998 surgeries were conducted at SMHS in November which means on average 67 surgeries are conducted at the hospital on a daily basis.
