Police arrests two drug peddlers in Budgam

Srinagar, Dec 31: Police in Budgam have arrested two drug peddlers and recovered contraband substance from their possession.
A Police party of Police Station Chadoora at a checkpoint established at Tagnar Chadoora intercepted a vehicle (Santro) bearing registration number JK04A-8236 with two persons on broad. During search, 176.200 KGs of Poppy Straw concealed in 05 nylon bags were recovered from their possession. They have been identified as Showkat Ahmad Yatoo @Shola son of Abdul Aziz Yatoo resident of Hayatpora Chadoora & Farooq Ahmad Sheikh @Jana son of Abdul Majeed Sheikh resident of Tangnar Chadoora. They have been arrested and shifted to police station where they remain in custody. Vehicle used for the commission of the crime has also been seized.
Accordingly, a case vide FIR number 209/2022 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Chadoora and investigation has been initiated.
Pertinently, during the year 2022, Police arrested 122 drug peddlers & seized 18 vehicles in drug-dealing cases in district Budgam.
