Keep Kashmir connected

Teaching is one among the respectable jobs, across the globe as the teachers play a key role in building the society. However, serving the department on a meagre salary here in Jammu and Kashmir, has forced the teachers to hit the streets many times so far, painting a grim picture of the education sector. Pressing for the genuine demands of better wages is the right of every single individual, but once again the teachers, who are serving the education department after being appointed through a scheme—Rehbar-e-Khel, have been lathicharged for hitting the streets when they tried to press for their demands, which has been condemned by almost every political party in Jammu and Kashmir. One fails to understand the reasons behind lathicharging the teachers as in case of objections, the protesters should have not been allowed to gather to register their protest. Instead of hearing the pleas, the government has once again turned their eye blind towards the sufferings of these ReK teachers, who are serving the department on meagre salaries for a long time now. It is the time when the action against the teachers needs to be put to an immediate end and also the demands of these poor teachers have to be met. The people at the helm of affairs should take note of the sufferings of ReK teachers and come up with a solution in this regard so that the youngsters, serving in the department, could heave a sigh of relief.
