Srinagar, Jan 18: Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) on Wednesday said that Bharat Jodo Yatra is apolitical march and is purely aimed at raising the issue of unemployment, price hike on essentials and other issues related to the common masses.
He also said that a grand event of BJY will take place on January 30th at SK Park here in which the leaders of all like-minded people from all across the country will participate.
Chetan Chauhan, JKPCC leader, who was accompanied by former deputy chief minister of Jammu and Kashmir, Tara Chand, told the media persons that all the arrangements by the party have been made for making the yatra successful.
He said that the yatra will enter Kashmir Valley on January 27 from South Kashmir and later will reach Srinagar where a grand event is scheduled to take place on January 30th. “The leaders from like-minded parties from all across the country will participate in the event. The regional parties have also extended their support and Dr Farooq Abdullah and Mehbooba Mufti will join in the event too,” he said.
“The participation of leaders from like-minded parties on January 30 is aimed to send a message to every nook and corner that the anti-people will never be accepted and will be fought tooth and nail,” he said.
About Article 370 abrogation, JKPCC leaders said that the Congress Members of Parliament raised hue and cry in the house and the party men also took to the streets and demanded restoration of all the rights that were guaranteed through Article 370.
However, reacting to the query about participation of Lal Singh, who is involved in shielding the rapists of a minor girl in Rassana area, the leaders said that Bharat Jodo Yatra is not any political march, but the motives behind belong to every section of the society and anyone who wants to join for the issue is welcomed. “We have not invited anyone to join the yatra, but anybody concerned about the grave issue like unemployment, price hike and others can participate,” they said.
About the security for the yatra, they said that leaders from the party met Lieutenant Governor twice and also talked to the top officers in the Police, who have assured that all the arrangements will be made to make the yatra successful.
Pertinently, 18 leaders, who had joined Ghulam Nabi Azad’s Democratic Azad Party (DAP) a few months back, have re-joined Congress party today here in Srinagar.
Haji Abdul Gani Khan, Mir Ruwais, Subodh Makku, Shameema Wani, Adil Ahmad Bhat, Parvez Ahmad Bhat, Suhail Ahmad War, Siraj ud Din, Gul Khan, Bihari Lal, Muhammad Amin Sheikh, Abdul Salam Dar, Gulzar Ahmad, Firdous Ahmad, Advocate Sogami, Abdul Rashid and other are among the leaders, who rejoined the party Wednesday.
