Slippery roads can prove fatal

The chaotic situation prevails in Srinagar’s commercial Hub Lal Chowk where the administration under the much-hyped Smart City Project is carrying forward some developmental activities during the ongoing harsh winter, causing huge trouble to the commuters as well as the pedestrians. People from all walks of the life, have questioned the timeliness of the developmental activities going on at the business hub here in the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir, Srinagar. Pertinently, the City areas here are being beautified and some developmental works have been started under the Smart City project with officials claiming that the works will be completed as soon as possible. The commercial hub witnesses huge rush of people on regular basis, but the situation especially in the frequent wet spell in the Valley, causes great inconvenience to the commuters. It has been witnessed that the roads turned slippery during the recent wet spell that led to the minor accidents as well. These roads could prove fatal to the motorists, thus becomes imperative at this juncture to prevent the accidents along the route. The authorities concerned should be directed to take preventive measures, especially whenever it rains as the roads in the commercial hub Lal Chowk turn slippery due to the ongoing developmental work. The executing agencies must ensure that the roads must not become slippery and some measures are also taken in this regard to prevent any untoward incident that could lead to the loss of any precious life or injury to any commuter.
