Use modern gadgets smartly: Army Commander’s ‘mantra’ to students

Jammu, Jan 30: Northern Army Commander, Lieutenant General Upendra Dwivedi on Monday interacted with the young students and advised them to use the modern technology and gadgets including mobile, internet and social media, smartly instead of becoming its salve.
Explaining the mantra of 5 P’s for life, Lieutenant General Upendra Dwivedi said that children should smartly use smart gadgets and not become their slave.
The General officer was interacting with the students of Jammu and Kashmir, studying in General B C Joshi Army Public School, Pithoragarh Uttarakhand, sponsored through Army’s Operation Sadbhavana at Udhampur.
A defence spokesman, the students were on their way back to the school after winter break and had a lifetime opportunity of meeting the Army Commander, who hosted hi-tea for students and further motivated them to excel in future.
Emphasizing on 5Ps formula, General Dwivedi said that importance of “passion” for one’s dreams which is a must, “persistence” combined with pragmatism which makes one succeed in any endeavour, “Parvarish” or the teachings of one’s parents which should never be lost sight of, “Peers”, who are an important part of a student’s life as they can boost learning and “Padhai” which is an important part of life as it enables an individual to equip with knowledge to grow in life.
The Army Commander further emphasized that the world is changing fast with latest innovations and gadgets like smart mobile phones and laptops etc. but the young children must use them smartly and not become slaves of the gadgets.
He reminded the students that their final exams will be due once they reach their school in a month’s time from now and all students especially those who are appearing for Board exams should not let exam pressure weigh them down.
They should take time to reflect on their potential and align it with the expectations for the future,” said the Army Commander wishing children the very best for their exams and a bright future ahead on behalf of the Indian Army.
