Civil-Military Coordination vital for development of district: DC Baramulla

Baramulla, Feb 4: To ensure better coordination between Civil administration and the armed forces in resolution of various issues of public importance in Baramulla district, the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Baramulla, Dr Syed Sehrish Asgar Saturday chaired a first of its kind Civil Military Liaison meeting at Dak Bungalow Sopore, here.
Among officers of Army including COs of 22 RR and 32 RR, the meeting was attended by Senior Superintendent of Police Sopore, Shabir Nawab; President Municipal Council Sopore, Masarat Kar; Joint Director Planning, Mohammad Yousuf Rather; Assistant Commissioner Revenue Baramulla, Peerzada Mumtaz Ahmad and other concerned functionaries.
In her opening remarks, Dr Sehrish showed her satisfaction for the transformation of Sopore and its adjoining areas besides extending her appreciation to all the concerned officers who worked with dedication for the betterment and development of the town. Speaking on the occasion, the DC spelt out the importance of holding the civil military meeting for better coordination between civil administration and armed forces in resolution of various issues of public importance.
During the meeting, the DC resolved various developmental issues of public importance and directions were passed for implementation of decisions taken on the spot.
It was given out that installation of street cameras and solar lights at various significant locations of Sopore town will be taken up for execution.
The meeting also discussed relocation of street vendors of Sopore town wherein DC directed for demarcation of land to relocate/ rehabilitate the street vendors
Dr Sehrish directed MC Sopore to regulate street vendors through registration and capping.
Among other vital issues, a detailed discussion was held on road dividers in the area during which it was decided that portable dividers will be placed at prominent spots for their mobility during any exigency. Road connectivity in Rafiabad sector and demarcation of land for Slaughter house at Sopore was also discussed in detail.
Moreover, it was also deliberated that the Drug De-addiction center should also be executed at Sopore so that proper counseling of the victims would be possible in the area.
Meanwhile, Officers of Army and Civil administration also spoke on the occasion wherein it was deliberated that the coordination and liaison between civil and military forces is important for the progress and prosperity of the district.
Furthermore, Senior Superintendent of Police Sopore said that the Sopore Police is always available on the front for eradication of social evils and other measures.
