Bandipora, Feb 6: The district hospital Bandipora is facing an acute shortage of staff as several key posts are lying vacant for the past many years despite repeated demands to the higher authorities to address the issue.
Details available, shows that the several key and critical posts including X-ray technician, theatre technician, Anaesthesia technician and lab technician are lying vacant for several years now.
As the hospital is already facing staff crunch, the heath authorities despite government orders have failed to detach one senior consultant, and three paramedical staffers to DH Bandipora who are attached outside the district and inside the district respectively, it said.
According to data, the hospital has a daily footfall of around 1000 to 1200 patients.
Several civil society members have raised concern over the shortage of staff at the district hospital and have demanded creation of additional posts.
“By detaching or attaching one or two people will not make any impact to the already under-staffed hospital but the health authorities should come up with a solid solution for the same,” a local said.
They appreciated Mission director NHM, Director Health Services and deputy commissioner Bandipora for making dialysis service available to ailing patients of the area but they urged the concerned to provide staff to the hospital so that other health services improve at the hospital.
They said that neither director health services nor mission director NHM is paying any heed towards their demands.
“There is a need for a senior consultant physician and paediatrician in the hospital. The government should address our issues,” Parvaiz Ahmad, a local, said.
Locals said that the hospital also lacks the proper heath heating arrangements during winters.
Director health services Kashmir (DHSK) was not available for the comments.
However his spokesperson said he will look into the matter after getting the information from the concerned CMO.
