Keep Kashmir connected

The ongoing anti-encroachment drive in Jammu & Kashmir has been giving sleepless nights to the people as the netizens have been sharing a ‘fake’ list on the social networking sites for the last couple of days. The political parties in the Union Territory have also been making frequent statements in this regard, stating that those who have illegally grabbed the huge chunk of land must not be spared, but at the same time appealed to the government to stop the use of bulldozers here to ensure that the poor people will not suffer. The drive against the land mafia and land grabbers must not be spared, but the administration has to play its key role in ensuring that the people will not become homeless and also the livelihood of the people is not affected. At the same time, there is a need to begin a probe and identify the persons, who are involved in making the fake list viral, so that no room is given to the people to suppress and harass them. The rumour mongering at this juncture could play a spoilsport as such fake lists can deteriorate the situation. Therefore, the government must not allow these rumour mongers to add fuel to the situation. The government should on priority take concrete steps and stop the rumour mongering at earliest and ensure that nobody is allowed to worsen the situation that can spoil the efforts made by the government so far in normalizing the situation on the ground.
