Anantnag, Feb 8: Deputy Commissioner Anantnag Dr Basharat Qayoom, presided over Block Diwas programme held at Town Hall Bijbehara Wednesday. The event saw participation by senior district officers, public representatives, representatives from line departments and public from Bijbehara and adjacent villages.
Interacting with the public, the Deputy Commissioner said that responsive governance is the hallmark of a well-functioning administrative structure and Block diwas has become an important driver of responsive governance. He said that beyond registering people’s grievances, it has become a dynamic platform for exchange of opinions regarding the development potential and focus areas in ensuring rapid transformation and prosperity of the people. He said that the massive gathering of people and time bound redressal of grievances has become a consistent feature of the Block Diwas.
Several people registered their grievances with the Deputy Commissioner which included advance desilting of irrigation canals before agricultural season, completion of JJM works in blocks, viz Loktipira, Gori, Sether, Check Dodo, Sangam Sether, Marhama, Waghama, Bagpora, round the clock availability of lady doctor in SDH Bijbehara, desilting and widening of Adwari Nallah and flood protection works, installation of street lights in Bijbehara macadamisation of interior roads of Waghama, construction of Mahraja Road Panchpora, release of B2V1 liability, PMAY, shifting of LT lines in Marhama among others.
Dr Basharat gave a patient hearing to the people and issued directions to concerned departments for time bound redressal of grievances.
