‘Doctor’ in Budgam fails to prove his credentials; investigation started

Baramulla, Feb 9: Chief Medical Officer Baramulla has sought a detailed report from Block Medical Officer Pattan after a doctor complained against his senior colleague that he abused him inside the operation theatre while he was performing surgery of a patient at Trauma Hospital Pattan.
In his complaint to CMO Baramulla, Dr Tufail alleged that Dr Imtiyaz Itoo not only restrained him from operating on a poor patient but also abused him and the patient inside the operation theatre. He has alleged that Dr Imtiyaz who is a senior consultant doesn’t want any surgery to take place without his permission.
During the argument between the two doctors the patient lying on the bed was shocked, insiders said.
Confirming the incident, CMO Baramulla, Dr Bashir Ahmed said that he received a complaint from a doctor against his colleague and sought a detailed report from BMO Pattan. He said that the doctor in question has been asked to explain his position.
BMO Pattan, Dr Mastoora said that he has sent a detailed report to CMO Baramulla about the incident. “Both are colleagues and I think the situation will cool down after some time,” she said adding that it is not a big issue.
Meanwhile, Civil Society Pattan has expressed anguish over the incident, appealing to authorities to take action against the doctors who care a fig for this noble profession. They said scores of patients went back without any treatment after this incident as one of the doctors didn’t bother to visit the hospital the next day. [KNT]
